A Happy Birthday

Today was a lovely birthday.  Doug took me up to Champaign -- used-book store, lunch, new-book store, chocolate shop, a few other places.  I collected a pile of books and a bag of chocolates.  We came home.  I made Greek meatloaf with tzatziki sauce for supper (recipes to follow).  We went to see "How to Train Your Dragon," which was pretty cool; I admire movies about using your wits and your powers of observation.  Then we stopped at Dairy Queen on the way home.  Fun day, though I'm tired now.

My birthday celebration is getting spread over about a week. Last weekend was when we did supper out at Red Lobster. I had my local party on Wednesday, the trip out yesterday (my actual birthday), and today we're going to crawl the thrift stores. Today's trip is really about hunting clothes for the magic show that Doug is putting together with another performer, and they want my opinion on what looks good. I get to pick out some things for myself, if something appeals. So this should be fun too.

If it's the month that catches your fancy, though, that's okay -- April is Poetry Month.

That's really cool. My partner is the blues/jazz fan in the family, but I like some of it too.

I also share my birthday with Anne McCaffrey, one of my favorite writers.
