A Day Out

Today we're going out shopping and rambling. I'm planning to take the camera outside for a few snapshots of my flowers and gardens, and maybe we'll find something else worth shooting later today as well. I'll be away from the computer for much of the day.

"A Periodic Table of Elementals" has been updated, thanks to sponsors zianuray and jenny_evergreen who join xjenavivex in supporting this epic poem in progress.

I don't have all the Muse Fusion materials submitted to Torn World yet. All the stories have made it past my first-reader, though, three of them with no comments and one that just had pronoun trouble in a couple of places. (Doug says that I'm consistently performing better with these short-short stories than with longer stories.) So far, "A Monster Story" and "The Bird Festival" have been submitted. I still need to get the other two stories and the last poem submitted.

Also, news from last night: the spring digging has begun. natasiakith and I went outside and grubbed up at least a dozen black raspberry canes that were growing where they didn't belong. Those now have a new home with her.

Today was fun. My big score was a box of 4 blueberry seedlings.

I think the Muse Fusion project, and Torn World in general, is helping to improve my fiction skills. I wanted to practice writing stories this year, and I'm certainly making progress on that.
Oh, have fun with shopping. I see you found some deals on blueberries :) I haven't grown blueberries but have logan berries, thornless blackberries and I think a boysenberry. They're all young plants, put in the last year to year 1/2, but they should start taking off soon.

I started some autumn tidy-up. I'll post info later.

Are you on Dreamwidth at all? I'm there with a mirror of this journal, with a garden journal, a photo journal and an archery comm. If you do find yourself over at DW (or want to join--I've got invites) look me up!

I have some yellow raspberries, black raspberries, and blackberries.

I am on Dreamwidth with an echo journal:

Yummmm. I've seen the yellow raspberries here. And blackberries are of course very yummmms. I worked in a park that had wild blackberries in the back half. I'd go on patrols or go on walks before/after my shifts and pick tons, eat tons, make jam :)

Cool, I'll add you on DW with my red_trillium one. Do you post the same content? If so I will read you & comment there :)

Here I have a loose patch of blackberries, a row of yellow raspberries, and the black along a fence. I pick them for eating fresh, making ice cream, and I freeze plenty for cobblers and berry dumplings, etc.

More or less. I couldn't find a direct echo routine from LJ to DW, so I'll probably put update posts weekly and then use the "transfer" feature monthly.
My bushes are still very young so I've only had a small handful this year. But sooooooonnnnnn.... ;) Carol makes great smoothies in the blender and we often use frozen berries for it. Home-grown will be cheaper!

I go the other way, I post in DW and use the cross post function. If you have a free account you can cross-post to one non-DW account (if you have a paid account it's either 2 or 3). FAQ on cross posting here. Basically you set up the function and then post from your DW. At the bottom, before the place you choose if it's a public/access list/private post there's a "crosspost" section with your Other account (say LJ) set up. You just tick the box and it will automatically cross post to that other account.

I use it constantly nowm rarely post from LJ anymore although it looks like it :)
If LJ would cross-post automatically to DW, I would do that. Sadly, it doesn't, and I don't like the DW features nearly as much as LJ.
