Vocabulary: In Which a Liberal Has a Sense of Humor
I discovered the term "latte liberal" today.

** ROTFLMAO **

*ahem* Moving on to sociolinguistic commentary ... I prefer "latte liberal" to its synonyms "smoked salmon liberal" and "lakefront liberal." It alliterates nicely, is quick and easy to say, and has good mouthfeel. Plus, it's funny. Latte is funny; it's a silly kind of drink, coffee with so much other stuff in it that it's barely coffee anymore. So latte liberal works as a concept for liberalism so watered down that it's barely recognizable. And it's snobby; latte has a reputation as a faux-elite beverage (compared to classically elite beverages such as wine).

Heh ... this is as much fun as "sabbat Pagans."

Re: what about mead?

That's very funny. That reminds me- I need to buy some mead for a special occasion coming up this week ;).

Re: what about mead?

There are very few alcoholic beverages that I like. Mead is one of the top few. Exceptional scotch is another, and rum for cooking. I rarely take more than a sip or two of anything, but the best mead is like drinking sunlight. Doesn't seem to affect me much, but sometimes the taste is well worthwhile.

Note to self: Introduce ysabet to J. Talkington's mead.

What's a "sabbat pagan"?

Much like a Sunday Christian: someone who self-identifies as belonging to a religion, and attends some of its holy-day functions, but does not make its tenets a part of everyday life.
